Phil Pfeifer and his step-son, Jeff Embry, an attorney in Tyler, won a $1.6 million medical malpractice verdict for the widow and family of a man who was misdiagnosed by his family doctor.  The man had actually had a heart attack, but his doctor thought it was just heartburn, and just gave him heartburn medicine.  He died eight days later.  According to courthouse personnel and local attorneys, the verdict was the largest medical malpractice verdict in the history of Ellis County, a conservative Dallas suburb!

Phil Pfeifer negotiated a confidential seven-figure settlement for a young woman who was paralyzed during a spine operation.  The doctor and his medical group paid significantly more than their insurance limits to avoid trial.
